Dulux has struck gold for the second year running this time by winning the workplace safety category in the 2009 Wellington Gold Awards for business excellence.
The ACC Workplace Safety Award was presented to the Dulux team at an awards ceremony attended by more than 800 people in Wellington’s TSB Arena. Last year Dulux won the Green Gold Award for environmental sustainability.
The annual Gold Awards recognise leading Wellington businesses in categories ranging from workplace safety to creativity in film and media.
Dulux General Manager Patrick Jones says the latest win was a fantastic achievement for the Dulux team and recognised a great deal of hard work.
“All our staff - led by our operations team - have been involved in maintaining workplace safety. A key part of that is a thriving behavioural safety programme which has been instrumental in removing many barriers to safety,” says Pat.
“We are all proud to be recognised as leaders in workplace safety.”
Other finalists in the safety category were Fletcher Higgins Joint Venture and Goodmans Contractors.
Dulux has been manufacturing paint in New Zealand at its Gracefield site in Lower Hutt for 70 years and is part of the Orica Consumer Products group.
