Recruitment, professional development and talent management programs are very important. The Orica Graduate Program is important to ensuring our technical, functional and leadership pipelines for a sustainable future. In 2010, the global program hosted over 100 graduates in total. We are looking forward to introducing new initiatives to ensure we recruit, develop and retain the best and brightest, all to build an even stronger, more competitive Orica. In March 2010 we conducted the inaugural Orica Global Employee Engagement Survey. All permanent full-time and part-time employees were invited to participate across all business units. The results were very pleasing with some valuable insights into the employee experience at Orica.
Through the data we were able identify that our approach to employee safety, health and the environment is a key factor that underpins employee engagement and is something we currently do very well. Our employees are also very satisfied with their day to day work activities which they feel make an important contribution to Orica's success.
In direct response to our survey, we have since launched three diverse, cross-business and cross-functional global project teams to address the areas employees would like to see changes made in.
The intention will be to conduct the survey annually and monitor the resulting actions through the Orica Group Executive and Senior Management to ensure their success.
